artist

An artist is a person engaged in one or more of any of a broad spectrum of activities related to creating art, practicing the arts, and/or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse is a practitioner in the visual arts only. The term is often used in the entertainment business, especially in a business context, for musicians and other performers (less often for actors). "Artiste" (the French for artist) is a variant used in English only in this context. Use of the term to describe writers, for example, is valid, but less common, and mostly restricted to contexts like criticism.

Als Künstler/in werden heute meist die in der Bildenden Kunst, der Angewandten Kunst, der Darstellenden Kunst sowie der Literatur und der Musik kreativ tätigen Menschen bezeichnet, die Kunstwerke schaffen.

Een artiest of podiumkunstenaar is een iemand die haar of zijn talenten gebruikt om in persoon in het openbaar op te treden; daaronder kunnen worden begrepen uitvoerende musici en vocalisten van de lichtere genres, toneelspelers, kleinkunstenaars, acteurs, komedianten, goochelaars en illusionisten.

Un artiste est un individu faisant (une) œuvre, cultivant ou maîtrisant un art, un savoir, une technique, et dont on remarque entre autres la créativité, la poésie, l' de sa production, de ses actes, de ses gestes. Ses œuvres sont source d'émotions, de sentiments, de réflexion, de spiritualité ou de transcendances.
