A cam is a rotating or sliding piece in a mechanical linkage used especially in transforming rotary motion into linear motion or vice versa. It is often a part of a rotating wheel (e.g. an eccentric wheel) or shaft (e.g. a cylinder with an irregular shape) that strikes a lever at one or more points on its circular path. The cam can be a simple tooth, as is used to deliver pulses of power to a steam hammer, for example, or an eccentric disc or other shape that produces a smooth reciprocating (back and forth) motion in the follower, which is a lever making contact with the cam.

Calmodulin (CaM) (an abbreviation for calcium-modulated protein) is a calcium-binding messenger protein expressed in all eukaryotic cells. Calmodulin is a multifunctional intermediate messenger protein that transduces calcium signals by binding calcium ions and then modifying its interactions with various target proteins.

Cham Albanians, or Chams (, Tsámidhes), are a sub-group of Albanians who originally resided in the region of Epirus in northwestern Greece, an area known among Albanians as Chameria. The Chams have their own peculiar cultural identity, which is a mixture of Albanian and Greek influences as well as many specifically Cham elements. The Chams were at the forefront of helping establish an Albanian national identity and played an important role in starting the renaissance of the Albanian culture in the 19th century. Als Çamen (; , deutsch gelegentlich auch Tschamen) werden Albaner aus der nördlichen Küstenregion von Epirus (alb. auch Çamëria) bezeichnet. Das Siedlungsgebiet der Çamen umfasste seit dem Mittelalter weite Teile von Epirus zu beiden Seiten der heutigen griechisch-albanischen Grenze. In vielen Gegenden lebten sie neben Griechen und Aromunen. Seit dem 15. Jahrhundert kamen türkische Siedler hinzu. Ein Teil der Çamen nahm dann unter der osmanischen Herrschaft den Islam an, während andere den orthodoxen Glauben beibehielten. Die Çamëria ist der südlichste Teil des geschlossenen albanischen Sprachgebiets.
