cheque

A cheque (or check in American English) is a document that orders a bank to pay a specific amount of money from a person's account to the person in whose name the cheque has been issued. The person writing the cheque, the drawer, has a transaction banking account  (often called a current, cheque, chequing or checking account) where their money is held. The drawer writes the various details including the monetary amount, date, and a payee on the cheque, and signs it, ordering their bank, known as the drawee, to pay that person or company the amount of money stated.

Der Scheck (auch Check, Cheque) ist ein Wertpapier, das eine unbedingte Zahlungsanweisung eines Kunden eines Kreditinstituts an seine Bank (Bezogener) enthält, an einen Dritten (Begünstigter, Remittent) auf Sicht (d. h. gegen Vorlage des Papiers beim Angewiesenen) eine bestimmte Geldsumme zu zahlen. Beim Verrechnungsscheck erfolgt die Zahlung nicht in bar, sondern im Wege der Gutschrift beim Begünstigten.

Un cheque (anglicismo de cheque o check) es un documento contable de valor en el que la persona que es autorizada para extraer dinero de una cuenta (por ejemplo, el titular), extiende a otra persona una autorización para retirar una determinada cantidad de dinero de su cuenta, la cual se expresa en el documento, prescindiendo de la presencia del titular de la cuenta bancaria.

Een cheque (ook wel geschreven als check) is een betaalwijze via een gedrukt stukje papier. Het is een type wissel waarmee iemand zijn bank opdraagt uit zijn tegoed bij de bank een uitbetaling te doen aan de houder van de cheque. Een cheque wordt vaak gebruikt om grotere sommen geld te betalen, bijvoorbeeld bij de aankoop van een auto of een huis.

Le chèque est un moyen de paiement scriptural utilisant le circuit bancaire. Il est généralement utilisé pour faire transiter de la monnaie d'un compte bancaire à un autre. Tombé en désuétude dans la plupart des pays industrialisés, il reste encore souvent utilisé en France, au Royaume-Uni et aux États-Unis.
