CHiPs is an American television drama series produced by MGM Studios that originally aired on NBC from September 15, 1977, to May 1, 1983. CHiPs followed the lives of two motorcycle police officers of the California Highway Patrol. The series ran for 139 episodes over six seasons, plus one reunion TV movie from October 27, 1998.

Les chips ou pommes chips, connues aussi sous le nom de croustilles au Canada mais couramment appelés « chips », sont des fines tranches végétales frites dans l'huile ce qui leur donne la caractéristique d'être craquantes. Elles sont généralement constituées de pommes de terre, mais peuvent aussi être faites de légume (manioc, patate douce, betterave, etc.) ou de fruit (pomme, banane, durian). Il existe aussi des chips reconstituées, fabriquées à partir de pommes de terre déshydratées. Les chips classiques sont assaisonnées seulement de sel mais on peut trouver d'autres condiments, des herbes, des épices et différents arômes naturels pour produire des chips d'un goût différent.
