A close-up is tightly framed image of a person or an object.

A close-up or closeup in filmmaking, television production, still photography and the comic strip medium is a type of shot, which tightly frames a person or an object. Close-ups are one of the standard shots used regularly with medium shots and long shots (cinematic techniques). Close-ups display the most detail, but they do not include the broader scene. Moving in to a close-up or away from a close-up is a common type of zooming.

La técnica del primer plano es, en cine, en televisión, en fotografía en audiovisual, e incluso en las tiras cómicas, un encuadre central sobre una persona o sobre un objeto. Ello indudablemente permite dar más detalles sobre una parte de la escena, aunque no sobre la totalidad de la misma. En cine y en televisión, esta técnica es generalmente aplicada luego de un travelling optique, o sea luego del efecto obtenido por una modificación continua y repetida durante la toma, de la distancia focal del objetivo.

La magia de cerca es un tipo de magia de corta distancia en donde el número de público es reducido y los juegos de magia son interactivos hasta cierto punto. Usualmente, se suele relacionar con la cartomagia.

Een close-up (dichtbij-opname, detailopname) is een foto- of video-opname waarbij het opgenomen object dicht bij het objectief lijkt te zijn. Vooral in soaps en vaak ook in speelfilms wordt deze techniek toegepast op personen, door het gezicht of het object van zeer dichtbij op te nemen. Dit gebeurt door het inzoomen of door de camera dichtbij te plaatsen. De close-up schept een gevoel van betrokkenheid bij de kijker, in tegenstelling tot een medium-shot of een panoramabeeld, die eerder 'objectief' of overschouwend aandoen.

Le (magie rapprochée ou encore micromagie), signifiant « gros plan » en anglais, est une spécialité de la prestidigitation qui consiste à se produire très près des spectateurs.
