concentrate

A concentrate is a form of substance which has had the majority of its base component (in the case of a liquid: the solvent) removed. Typically, this will be the removal of water from a solution or suspension, such as the removal of water from fruit juice. One benefit of producing a concentrate is that of a reduction in weight and volume for transportation, as the concentrate can be reconstituted at the time of usage by the addition of the solvent.

Ein Konzentrat, besonders bei Flüssigkeiten auch Essenz, ist ein Stoff – ein Pulver bzw. eine Flüssigkeit – ohne oder mit einem geringen Anteil an zusätzlichen Füllstoffen, im Falle einer Flüssigkeit von Lösungsmitteln. Vor einer Verwendung des Konzentrates wird dann das ursprüngliche Volumen durch erneute Zugabe des Füllstoffes bzw. des Lösungsmittels wiederhergestellt.

Een concentraat is een poeder of een vloeistof, die een of meer stoffen in grote hoeveelheden bevat of zelfs uit de pure vorm bestaat. Meestal wordt een concentraat verkregen, doordat water uit een vloeistof gedeeltelijk of geheel wordt verwijderd.

Jedną z korzyści produkcji koncentratu jest zmniejszenie masy i objętości do transportu. Koncentrat może być przywrócony do pierwotnej formy poprzez dodanie rozpuszczalnika, np. przed użyciem.
