A dairy product or milk product is food produced from the milk of mammals. Dairy products are usually high energy-yielding food products. A production plant for the processing of milk is called a dairy or a dairy factory. Apart from breastfed infants, the human consumption of dairy products is sourced primarily from the milk of cows, water buffaloes, goats, sheep, yaks, horses, camels, domestic buffaloes, and other mammals. Dairy products are commonly found in European, Middle Eastern, and Indian cuisine, whereas aside from Mongolian cuisine they are little-known in traditional East Asian cuisine.

Zuivel is de algemene naam voor melk en uit rauwe melk bereide producten. Deze melk kan van verschillende zoogdieren afkomstig zijn, maar melk van koeien, schapen, geiten, kamelen, paarden, waterbuffels en jaks wordt het meeste door mensen gebruikt.

Les produits laitiers ou laitages sont le simple lait ou des aliments transformés ou obtenus simplement à partir de laits. Parmi les laits utilisés, le principal est de loin le lait de vache (généralement appelé « lait » sans plus de précision), mais on utilise également le lait de chèvre, de brebis, de chamelle, de yak, de bufflonne... Leur introduction dans l'alimentation humaine après sevrage remonte à la révolution néolithique.
