Der Begriff Digit ist aus dem Englischen übernommen worden in der Bedeutung als Ziffer, Ziffernschritt oder Stelle. Er wird in der Digitaltechnik oft verwendet, insbesondere in der digitalen Messtechnik. Wegen des Fehlens einer anerkannten Definition sollte man aber mit ihm vorsichtig umgehen.

Ein Digitus ist eine Art kleiner Zeigestab für das Messbuch, der im römischen Ritus bis zu den liturgischen Reformen in Folge des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils in den 1960er Jahren verwendet wurde.

En matemàtiques i ciència de la computació, un dígit numèric és un símbol, v.g. 3, usat en numerals (combinacions de símbols), v.g. 37, per representar nombres (enters o reals) en sistemes de numeració posicionals.
