A district is a type of administrative division that, in some countries, is managed by local government. Across the world, areas known as "districts" vary greatly in size, spanning entire regions or counties, several municipalities, subdivisions of municipalities, school district, or political district.

Bezirk
Der Bezirk (von aus ‚Kreis‘, Abkürzungen: Bez./Bz.) ist ein abgegrenztes Gebiet, einen Landstrich, eine Region, insbesondere aber eine hierarchische Gliederungstufe der Verwaltungsgliederung. In der Abgrenzung bzw. Gegenüberstellung der Begriffe ‚Kreis‘ und ‚Bezirk‘ gibt es historische und regionale Unterschiede.

District
Un district est une division administrative dans certains pays. Les formes de gouvernance sont variables, depuis une simple subdivision sans autonomie jusqu'à un territoire autonome avec une représentation élue. De même, la superficie va de celle d'un quartier jusqu'à celle d'une région.

Dystrykt
Dystrykt (od łac. districtus) to nazwa jednostki administracyjnej, a także okręgu sądowego, wyborczego lub innego, stosowana współcześnie lub dawniej w wielu państwach. Dystrykty mogą być zarówno jednostkami administracyjnymi najwyższego rzędu (np. w Izraelu, Luksemburgu, czy na Cyprze), jak i niższych rzędów (np. w RPA, czy Indii).
