In general, a filler is something that is used to fill gaps. Specialized meanings of the word "filler" include:

The fillér was the name of various small change coins throughout Hungarian history. It was the subdivision of the Austro-Hungarian and the Hungarian korona, the pengo and the forint. The name derives from the German word Vierer that means 'number four' in English. Originally it was the name of the four-Kreuzer coin. Due to significant inflation that took place after the fall of Communism, fillér coins are no longer in circulation. The last fillér coin, worth 50 fillér (0.5 forint) was removed from circulation in 1999. However, it continues to be used in calculations, for example in the price of petrol (e.g. 310.9 HUF), or in the prices of telephone calls.

Der ungarische Forint ist die Währung Ungarns. Ein Forint ist formal in 100 Fillér (dt. Heller) eingeteilt, diese Einheit hat jedoch seit Ende der 1990er Jahre keine Bedeutung mehr. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde der Forint 1946 wieder eingeführt und hielt sich bis Mitte der 1980er Jahre stabil. Nach dem Zusammenbruch des sozialistischen Regimes kam es 1991 mit dem Wandel von Zentralverwaltungswirtschaft zu freier Marktwirtschaft zu einer Inflation. Der Wert des Forints fiel drastisch und im Jahr 1991 lag die Inflationsrate bei 32,2 %, im Jahr 2009 dagegen nur noch bei 5,6 %. Mit der Eingliederung Ungarns in die EU wird der Forint vom Euro ersetzt werden, nicht jedoch vor 2020. Hierfür muss Ungarn aber zunächst den Wechselkursmechanismus II erfüllen.
