Floor may refer to one of the following:
In buildings:

• Floor, the lower surface of a room; and the supportive subfloor, the layer which structurally provides the strength and support for the flooring above commonly miscalled 'the floor'.
• Storey, a level of a building
• Flooring, a type of floor covering for example wood flooring, tile flooring, vinyl flooring
• Floor (gymnastics), a specially prepared exercise surface
• Dance floor or Sprung floor for dancing

Flooring is the general term for a permanent covering of a floor, or for the work of installing such a floor covering. Floor covering is a term to generically describe any finish material applied over a floor structure to provide a walking surface. Both terms are used interchangeably but floor covering refers more to loose-laid materials.

Als Fußboden wird das Bauteil in einem Gebäude bezeichnet, welches als begehbare Fläche mit je nach technischer und ästhetischer Anforderung unterschiedlichen Bodenbelägen auf einer statisch tragenden Schicht oder einem horizontalen Bauteil wie der Bodenplatte oder Geschossdecke ruht.

In de bouw kan het begrip vloer op veel manieren worden uitgelegd. De prefabindustrie denkt bij het woord vloer aan de vloerelementen die zij produceren, het vloerenbedrijf bedoelt de dekvloeren die ze aanbrengen en de stoffeerder denkt aan zijn vloerbedekking.

Un plancher, dans le domaine du bâtiment, est un ouvrage de charpente de menuiserie ou de maçonnerie, tout ou partie en bois, en fer ou en béton, formant une plate-forme horizontale au rez-de-chaussée ou une séparation entre les étages d'une construction. Sa sous-face est appelée plafond. Le plancher peut porter un revêtement : parquet, carrelage, Linoleum, moquette, etc.
