A flowchart is a type of  diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting them with arrows. This diagrammatic representation illustrates a solution model to a given problem. Flowcharts are used in analyzing, designing, documenting or managing a process or program in various fields.

Ein Programmablaufplan (PAP) ist ein Ablaufdiagramm für ein Computerprogramm, das auch als Flussdiagramm (engl. flowchart) oder Programmstrukturplan bezeichnet wird. Es ist eine grafische Darstellung zur Umsetzung eines Algorithmus in einem Programm und beschreibt die Folge von Operationen zur Lösung einer Aufgabe.

Een stroomdiagram of stroomschema, ook wel flowsheet of flowchart, is een schematische voorstelling van een proces. Het wordt over het algemeen gebruikt om een proces makkelijker te visualiseren, of om fouten in het proces te kunnen vinden.

Il termine anglosassone flow chart (diagramma di flusso) indica una rappresentazione grafica, o diagramma, che può avere applicazioni in diversi settori:

• Diagramma di flusso - in informatica e altre discipline, per riferirsi a un particolare tipo di rappresentazione grafica del flusso di controllo negli algoritmi e nei processi
• Schema di processo - nelle tecnologie chimiche è un diagramma che viene impiegato come schema generale dei processi e delle apparecchiature di un impianto industriale.
