Kinship terminology is the systems used in languages to refer to the persons to whom an individual is related through kinship. Different societies classify kinship relations differently and therefore use different systems of kinship terminology; for example, some languages distinguish between affinal and consanguine uncles, whereas others have only one word to refer to both a father and his brothers. Kinship terminologies include the terms of address used in different languages or communities for different relatives and the terms of reference used to identify the relationship of these relatives to ego or to each other.

Als Genitor (lat. Erzeuger, Schöpfer, Urheber) werden diejenigen Lebewesen bezeichnet, die im Rahmen der Fortpflanzung ihre Erbanlagen an  Nachkommen weitergegeben haben.

Genitor fue un caballo que nació en los establos que el general y dictador romano Julio César (100 a. C.-44 a. C.) tenía en su casa. El caballo presentaba atavismo en las patas, por lo que tenía varios dedos largos rematados en pezuña además del casco central, algo causado por la desactivación del gen inhibidor que impide el crecimiento de más dedos en los caballos aparte del tercero durante el desarrollo embrionario.

Relacja rodzinna (także relacja lub stosunek genealogiczny; pot. nazwa lub rodzaj pokrewieństwa i powinowactwa, nazewnictwo, nazwy członków rodziny) – w genealogii, socjologii lub prawie nazwa i rodzaj stosunku zachodzącego między dwiema osobami należącymi do tej samej rodziny a wynikającego z faktu filiacji i koicji (w genealogii) lub szerzej z pokrewieństwa i powinowactwa (w pozostałych naukach). Na relację taką mają również wpływ stopień pokrewieństwa i powinowactwa (pierwszy, drugi, trzeci itd.), różnica pokoleń oraz linia pokrewieństwa i powinowactwa (prosta i boczna, wstępna i zstępna). Relacje rodzinne oblicza się od jednej osoby, którą w genealogii można nazywać probantem, do innego członka jej rodziny.
