In Greek mythology, a Gorgon (; plural: Gorgons, Gorgon/Gorgo) is a female creature. The name derives from the ancient Greek word gorgós, which means "dreadful", and appears to come from the same root as the Sanskrit word "garg" which is defined as a guttural sound, similar to the growling of a beast, thus possibly originating as an onomatopoeia. While descriptions of Gorgons vary across Greek literature and occur in the earliest examples of Greek literature, the term commonly refers to any of three sisters who had hair made of living, venomous snakes, as well as a horrifying visage that turned those who beheld her to stone. Traditionally, while two of the Gorgons were immortal, Stheno and Euryale, their sister Medusa was not, and she was slain by the demigod and hero Perseus.

Gorgon is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kobiele Wielkie, within Radomsko County, Lódz Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately south of Kobiele Wielkie, south-east of Radomsko, and south of the regional capital Lódz.

Die Gorgonen (altgr.  gorgónes, von gorgós „schrecklich“), Singular Gorgone oder Gorgo , sind in der griechischen Mythologie drei geflügelte Schreckgestalten mit Schlangenhaaren, die jeden, der sie anblickt, zu Stein erstarren lassen.

Gorgon puede referirse a:

• Gorgon, un personaje de Marvel Comics creado por Stan Lee y Jack Kirby en 1966 para Los cuatro fantásticos;
• Gorgon, otro personaje de Marvel, pero creado en 2004 por Mark Millar y John Romita, Jr. para la serie Wolverine;
• Gorgon, una bestia mágica del juego de rol Dungeons & Dragons.

Met de Gorgonen (Grieks: of ), enkelvoud Gorgo (Grieks: ), worden in de Griekse mythologie doorgaans Medusa (de door Poseidon bezwangerde), Stheno (de sterke) en Euryale (de vérspringende) bedoeld, dochters van de zeegoden Phorcys en Ceto. Zij vormen een zogeheten thriai of triade van chtonische wezens die werden voorgesteld als vrouwen met slagtanden, handen van brons, gouden vleugels en slangen in plaats van haren. Iedereen die hen aankeek werd veranderd in steen. De bekendste der Gorgonen is (de in tegenstelling tot haar zusters sterfelijke) Medusa. Zij wordt gedood door de heros Perseus.

Les Gorgones (en grec ancien  ou ), au singulier Gorgone ou Gorgo , sont, dans la mythologie grecque, des créatures fantastiques malfaisantes dont le regard a le pouvoir de pétrifier les personnes qui les regardent.
