grammatical case

Case is a grammatical category whose value reflects the grammatical function performed by a noun or pronoun in a phrase, clause, or sentence. In some languages, nouns, pronouns, and their modifiers take different inflected forms depending on what case they are in. English has largely lost its case system, although case distinctions can still be seen with the personal pronouns: forms such as I, he and we are used in the role of subject ("I kicked the ball"), while forms such as me, him and us are used in the role of object ("John kicked me").

Der Kasus [] (Pl.: Kasus mit langem u []) (auch: der Fall) ist eine grammatische Kategorie, das heißt eine Kategorie in der Flexion der nominalen Wortarten (siehe auch morphosyntaktische Kategorie).

Een naamval of casus is een middel waarmee de grammaticale functie van een woord in de zin kan worden aangegeven. Zichtbare naamvallen betreffen de morfologie, wat wil zeggen dat de vorm van het betrokken woord wijzigingen ondergaat, meestal in de vorm van een naamvalsuitgang - en worden onderscheiden van onzichtbare (abstracte) naamvallen.

• en informatique : cas d'utilisation, raisonnement par cas, système de calcul formel

Przypadek – kategoria gramatyczna, przez którą odmieniają się rzeczowniki, przymiotniki, liczebniki, zaimki, imiesłowy (określane przez to zbiorczym mianem imion), a niekiedy też czasowniki (co w języku polskim nie występuje), będąca odzwierciedleniem ich różnorodnych funkcji.
