SACRED was a Cubesat built by the Student Satellite Program of the University of Arizona. It was the product of the work of about 50 students, ranging from college freshmen to Ph. D. students, over the course of several years. It was launched, after being postponed several times, on board a Dnepr on July 26, 2006. The launch was a failure.

Sacred means revered due to sanctity, is in general the state of being holy (perceived by religious individuals as associated with divinity) or sacred (considered worthy of spiritual respect or devotion; or inspiring awe or reverence among believers).

Le sacré est une notion d'anthropologie culturelle permettant à une société humaine de créer une séparation ou une opposition axiologique entre les différents éléments qui composent, définissent ou représentent son monde : objets, actes, espaces, parties du corps, valeurs, etc. Le sacré désigne donc ce qui est mis en dehors des choses ordinaires, banales, communes ; il s'oppose essentiellement au profane, mais aussi à l'utilitaire.

Sacro è un termine storico religioso, fenomenologico religioso e antropologico che indica una categoria di attributi e realtà che si aggiungono o significano ulteriormente il reale ordinariamente percepito e indicato come profano.
