huddle

In sport, a huddle is an action of a team gathering together, usually in a tight circle, to strategise, motivate or celebrate. It is a popular strategy for keeping opponents insulated from sensitive information, and acts as a form of insulation when the level of noise in the venue is such that normal on-field communication is difficult. Commonly the leader of the huddle is the team captain and it is the captain who will try to inspire his fellow team members to achieve success. Similarly after an event a huddle may take place to congratulate one another for the teams success, or to commiserate a defeat. The term "huddle" can be used as a verb as in "huddling up".

Der Huddle (englisch für Haufen) bezeichnet die Versammlung der Spieler im American Football, bei der Spielzüge und Strategien besprochen werden. Der Quarterback gibt dabei seinen Mitspielern die Ausführung des nächsten Spielzugs sowie den Snap Count vor. Der Quarterback seinerseits ist im professionellen Football per Funk mit den Trainern in Verbindung. Eine No-Huddle Offense verzichtet, entweder aus Zeitnot oder aber um die gegnerische Defense unter Druck zu setzen, auf den Huddle. Die Spielzüge werden dabei an der Line of Scrimmage vom Quarterback angesagt.

É uma estratégia popular para manter os adversários isolados de informações sigilosas, e atua como uma forma de isolamento quando o nível de ruído no local é tão intenso que a comunicação em campo se torna difícil. Geralmente o líder do huddle é o capitão da equipe e é o capitão que irá tentar e inspirar seus companheiros de equipe para alcançar o sucesso. O termo é bastante popular em alguns países de língua inglesa como os Estados Unidos.
