Hydrochloric acid is a clear, colorless, highly pungent solution of hydrogen chloride (HCl) in water. It is a highly corrosive, strong mineral acid with many industrial uses. Hydrochloric acid is found naturally in gastric acid. When it reacts with an organic base it forms a hydrochloride salt.

Salzsäure (systematischer Name Chlorwasserstoffsäure) ist eine wässrige Lösung von gasförmigem Chlorwasserstoff, der in Oxonium- und Chloridionen dissoziiert ist. Sie ist eine starke, anorganische Säure und zählt zu den Mineralsäuren. Ihre Salze heißen Chloride, das bekannteste ist das Natriumchlorid (NaCl, Kochsalz).

Zoutzuur (informeel: zoutgeest) is de benaming voor een waterige oplossing van het gas waterstofchloride. Het is een veelgebruikt reagens in de scheikunde; jaarlijks wordt ongeveer 20 miljoen ton zoutzuur geproduceerd. Zoutzuur is een sterk anorganisch zuur dat corrosief is.

L'acide chlorhydrique concentré ou dilué, noté HCl_aqueux se présente essentiellement sous forme d'une solution aqueuse contenant les solutés ioniques suivants :

• les ions de type oxonium ou hydronium; plus précisément des ions hydrates d'hydrogène noté H₃O⁺ diversement solvatés, en moyenne par 5 molécules d'eau.
• les ions chlorure Cl^-.

Kwas solny (kwas chlorowodorowy) (HCl; pot. zajzajer od niem. Salzsäure) – nieorganiczny związek chemiczny z grupy kwasów beztlenowych, będący roztworem  wodnym gazowego chlorowodoru. Czasami kwasem solnym nazywa się też roztwór chlorowodoru w innych rozpuszczalnikach polarnych np. w acetonie. Jest silnie żrący.
