INDEX, an acronym for Information through Disguised Experimentation is an annual market research fair conducted by the students of IIM-Lucknow. Students create games and various other simulated environments, to capture consumers’ subconscious thoughts. This innovative method of market research removes the sensitization effect that might bias peoples answers to questions. This ensures that the most truthful answers are captured to research questions. The games are designed in such a way that the observers can elicit all the required information just by observing and noting down the behaviour and the responses of the participants.

An index is an indirect shortcut derived from and pointing into a greater volume of values, data, information or knowledge. Index may refer to:

• Index Corporation, a Japanese video game developer
• INDEX, a market research fair in Lucknow, India

INDEX: Design to Improve Life is a Danish nonprofit organisation which works towards promoting designs aimed at the improvement of human lives worldwide, both in developed and developing countries. The organization is behind the biennial INDEX: Award, the world's biggest design award.

MC2 France is a French software company that develops and publishes video games focusing on adventure games. It was formed in 2003 when Emmanuel Olivier merged Microïds and Wanadoo Edition. In late 2009 all of the licences associated with the company were purchased by Anuman Interactive, and currently the Microïds brand is used.

El Index librorum prohibitorum, en español Índice de libros prohibidos, es una lista de aquellas publicaciones que la Iglesia católica catalogó como libros perniciosos para la fe; además establecía, en su primera parte, las normas de la Iglesia con respecto a la censura de los libros. Fue promulgado por primera vez a petición del Concilio de Trento por el papa Pío IV el 24 de marzo de 1564 —impreso en Venecia por Paolo Manuzio—. El Index conoció más de cuarenta ediciones, a cargo de la Congregación del Índice, creada por el papa Pío V en 1571. La última edición fue la de 1948 hasta que el 8 de febrero de 1966 el papa Pablo VI lo suprimió.

De index (meervoud indices) (Latijn index: aanwijzer, wijsvinger, register, lijst) dient om iets aan te duiden en terug te vinden:

• index (boek), inhoudsopgave, register, een hulpmiddel bij het opzoeken van informatie; hieruit afgeleid:
  • index (database), een (deel)bestand waarin een tabel op een bepaald veld is gesorteerd. Daarnaast betekent 'index' in de wereld van de database een opgeslagen structurering van vrije teksten ten behoeve van zoekfunctionaliteit (zoals gebruikt door zoekmachines).
• Index librorum prohibitorum (Index, Lijst van de verboden boeken), een uiteindelijk door de Paus vastgestelde lijst van boeken die katholieken niet mochten lezen.
