Infrastructure
Infrastructure refers to the fundamental facilities and systems serving a country, city, or area, including the services and facilities necessary for its economy to function. It typically characterises technical structures such as roads, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, telecommunications, and so forth, and can be defined as "the physical components of interrelated systems providing commodities and services essential to enable, sustain, or enhance societal living conditions."

زيرساخت
زير ساخت، در عمومي‌ترين حالت، يک دسته از عوامل ساختاري به هم پيوسته مي‌باشد که تکيه‌گاه اسکلت يک ساختمان کامل را فراهم مي‌آورد. اين واژه در زمينه‌هاي متفاوت معاني گوناگوني مي‌دهد، اما شايد در بسياري موارد جهت اشاره به جاده‌ها، و مجراي فاضلاب از آن استنباط شود. ممکن است اين عوامل گوناگون مجتمعا زيرسازه شهري، زيرسازه مربوط به شهرداري، يا بطور ساده سازه‌هاي عمومي ناميده شوند، اگرچه ممکن است به عنوان بخش خصوصي يا تشکيلات اقتصادي دولتي گسترش يافته و اداره شوند. ممکن است در ديگر موارد کاربردي، زيرسازه جهت اشاره به تکنولوژي اطلاعات، کانال‌هاي غير رسمي و رسمي ارتباطات، ابزارهاي گسترش نرم‌افزاري، شبکه‌هاي سياسي و اجتماعي، يا اعتقادات مشترکي که اعضاي گروه‌هاي خاص حفظ کرده‌اند به کار رود. معذالک متضمن عمومي‌ترين موارد استفاده اين تصور کلي مي‌باشد که زيرسازه تشکيلات ساختاري را فراهم آورده و سيستم يا سازمان خادم را حمايت مي‌کند، خواه اين سيستم يک شهر، يک ملت، يا يک اجتماع باشد.
