Unter Inspiration ( ‚Beseelung‘, ‚Einhauchen‘, aus in ‚hinein‘ und spirare ‚hauchen‘, ‚atmen‘; vgl. spiritus ‚Atem‘, ‚Seele‘, ‚Geist‘) versteht man allgemeinsprachlich eine Eingebung, etwa einen unerwarteten Einfall oder einen Ausgangspunkt künstlerischer Kreativität. Begriffsgeschichtlich liegt die Vorstellung zugrunde, dass einerseits Werke von Künstlern, andererseits religiöse Überlieferungen Eingebungen des (nicht notwendig personal verstandenen) Göttlichen seien - eine Vorstellung, die sich sowohl in vorderorientalischen Religionen als auch bei vorsokratischen Philosophen findet und dann eine breite Wirkungsgeschichte entfaltet.

La directive INSPIRE est la directive 2007/2/CE du Parlement européen et du Conseil du établissant une infrastructure d'information géographique dans la Communauté européenne (INSPIRE).

Le terme inspiration a principalement deux significations.

• L'inspiration est l'une des phases de la respiration consistant à absorber l'air, à l'opposé de l'expiration.
• L'inspiration désigne une affluence d'idées stimulant l'imagination et la créativité.

INSPIRE (acronimo per Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe - Infrastruttura per l'Informazione Territoriale in Europa) è un progetto della Commissione europea con l'obiettivo di realizzare infrastrutture di dati territoriali nella Comunità europea.
