Junipers are coniferous plants in the genus Juniperus of the cypress family Cupressaceae. Depending on taxonomic viewpoint, between 50 and 67 species of juniper are widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere, from the Arctic, south to tropical Africa in the Old World, and to the mountains of Central America and Ziarat Pakistan. The highest-known Juniper forest occurs at altitude of 4,900 metres in south-eastern Tibet and the northern Himalayas, creating one of the highest tree-lines on earth.

Die Wacholder (Juniperus) sind eine Pflanzengattung in der Unterfamilie Cupressoideae aus der Familie der Zypressengewächse (Cupressaceae). Mit den etwa 50 bis 70 Arten, die dieser Gattung zugerechnet werden, stellen sie fast 40 Prozent der Arten innerhalb der Zypressengewächse. In Mitteleuropa kommen in freier Natur nur zwei Arten vor, nämlich der Gemeine Wacholder und der Sadebaum.

Juniper est une communauté canadienne située dans le comté de Carleton dans la province du Nouveau-Brunswick.

Le genre botanique des genévriers, également appelé poivre du pauvre, nom scientifique Juniperus, famille des  Cupressacées, comporte un grand nombre d'espèces, des variétés « rigides » aux aiguilles piquantes et des variétés « souples » au feuillage en écailles.

Rodzaj należy obok sosen do najbardziej rozpowszechnionych przedstawicieli iglastych na Ziemi. Jałowce rosną w strefie klimatu umiarkowanego i subpolarnego na wszystkich kontynentach półkuli północnej, a także w górach w strefie międzyzwrotnikowej. Wiele gatunków i ich odmian uprawianych jest jako rośliny ozdobne.

Juniper – osada w Anglii, w hrabstwie Northumberland. Leży 32 km na zachód od miasta Newcastle upon Tyne i 401 km na północ od Londynu.
