kelvin

The kelvin is a unit of measure for temperature based upon an absolute scale. It is one of the seven base units in the International System of Units (SI) and is assigned the unit symbol K. The Kelvin scale is an absolute, thermodynamic temperature scale using as its null point absolute zero, the temperature at which all thermal motion ceases in the classical description of thermodynamics. The kelvin is defined as the fraction of the thermodynamic temperature of the triple point of water (exactly 0.01 °C or 32.018 °F). In other words, it is defined such that the triple point of water is exactly 273.16 K.

Das Kelvin (Einheitenzeichen: K) ist die SI-Basiseinheit der thermodynamischen Temperatur und zugleich gesetzliche Temperatureinheit; es wird auch zur Angabe von Temperaturdifferenzen verwendet. In Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz sowie in anderen europäischen Ländern gilt auch das Grad Celsius (Einheitenzeichen: °C) als gesetzliche Einheit für die Angabe von Celsius-Temperaturen und deren Differenzen. Dabei entspricht eine Temperatur von 0 °C umgerechnet 273,15 K. Der Zahlenwert eines Temperaturunterschieds in den beiden Einheiten Kelvin und Grad Celsius ist gleich.

El kelvin (antes llamado grado Kelvin), simbolizado como K, es la unidad de temperatura de la escala creada por William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, en el año 1848, sobre la base del grado Celsius, estableciendo el punto cero en el cero absoluto (−273,15 °C) y conservando la misma dimensión. Lord Kelvin, a sus 24 años introdujo la escala de temperatura termodinámica, y la unidad fue nombrada en su honor.
