A
keyboard amplifier is an electronic system used with electric or electronic
musical keyboards to make the instrument loud enough to be heard by the keyboardist on a stage and, for small venues, loud enough for audience members to hear as well. Keyboard amps used for the
stage piano,
synthesizer,
clonewheel organs and similar instruments, are distinct from other types of
amplification systems due to the particular challenges associated with keyboards; namely, to provide solid low-frequency sound reproduction
and crisp high-frequency sound with a relatively flat frequency response and low
distortion.
