The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the five big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia (where an endangered remnant population resides in Gir Forest National Park in India) while other types of lions have disappeared from North Africa and Southwest Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene, about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, across Eurasia from western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru. The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a major population decline in its African range of 30–50% per two decades during the second half of the twentieth century. Lion populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Within Africa, the West African lion population is particularly endangered.

Ein Lithium-Ionen-Akkumulator (auch Lithiumionenakku, Lithiumionen-Akku, Lithiumionen-Sekundärbatterie oder kurz Lithium-Akkumulator; fachsprachlich [] ausgesprochen, auch [] (mit s-Laut)) ist der Oberbegriff für Akkumulatoren auf der Basis von Lithium-Verbindungen in allen drei Phasen der elektrochemischen Zelle. De leeuw (Panthera leo) is een groot roofdier uit de familie der katachtigen (Felidae). Van alle katachtigen is enkel de tijger groter. De grootte en de manen van het mannetje geven het dier een imposant uiterlijk, waardoor de leeuw in grote delen van de wereld bekendstaat als de koning der dieren. In Europa heeft hij deze rol overigens pas in de loop van de Middeleeuwen overgenomen van de bruine beer.

Lithium-ion-accu's (ook wel "Li-ion-accu"), zijn accu's die vaak in consumentenelektronica worden gebruikt, vooral vanwege hun hoge energiedichtheid. Er kleven echter ook een paar nadelen aan dit type accu. Omdat er een regelsysteem aan gekoppeld moet zijn, is dit type accu vaak specifiek voor een apparaat gemaakt, in tegenstelling tot bijvoorbeeld nikkel-metaalhydrideaccu's (NiMH). Dit regelsysteem controleert de spanning, om te diepe ontlading te voorkomen. Diepontlading gebeurt wanneer de accu te leeg is en heeft interne beschadiging tot gevolg. Het regelsysteem zorgt ervoor dat de stroomvoorziening wordt gestopt wanneer de interne spanning te laag dreigt te worden. De lithium-ion-accu dient niet te worden verward met de (niet oplaadbare) lithiumbatterij.

Le lion () est une espèce de mammifères carnivores de la famille des félidés. La femelle du lion est la lionne, son petit est le lionceau. Le mâle adulte, aisément reconnaissable à son importante crinière, accuse une masse moyenne qui peut être variable selon les zones géographiques où il se trouve, allant de pour les lions de Kruger à pour les lions de Transvaal. Certains spécimens très rares peuvent dépasser exceptionnellement . Un mâle adulte se nourrit de de viande chaque jour contre chez la femelle. Le lion est un animal grégaire, c'est-à-dire qu'il vit en larges groupes familiaux, contrairement aux autres félins. Son espérance de vie, à l'état sauvage, est comprise entre 7 et pour le mâle et 14 à pour la femelle, mais il dépasse fréquemment les en captivité.

Le LION, ou Lower Indian Ocean Network, est un câble sous-marin en cours d'installation par France Télécom dans le sud-ouest de l'océan Indien. Il doit relier, à moyen terme, Madagascar à l'île Maurice en passant par La Réunion. Ce faisant, il doublera le SAFE entre les deux îles des Mascareignes et connectera la Grande Île à cet autre câble qui jusqu'ici l'évitait, mettant un terme à sa dépendance aux liaisons satellitaires. Il sera ensuite prolongé de Madagascar à Mombasa, au Kenya, en desservant Mayotte au passage. Un prolongement de Maurice à l'Asie est par ailleurs envisagé. Composé de quatre fibre optiques, le LION touche terre, à La Réunion et Maurice, à Sainte-Marie et Terre Rouge respectivement.
