manipulator

In robotics a manipulator is a device used to manipulate materials without direct contact. The applications were originally for dealing with radioactive or biohazardous materials, using robotic arms, or they were used in inaccessible places. In more recent developments they have been used in applications such as robotically-assisted surgery and in space. It is an arm-like mechanism that consists of a series of segments, usually sliding or jointed, which grasp and move objects with a number of degrees of freedom.

Ein Manipulator ist in der Robotik das Gerät, das die physikalische Interaktion mit der Umgebung ermöglicht, also der bewegliche Teil des Roboteraufbaus, der die mechanische Arbeit des Roboters durchführt. Im Prinzip ist der Manipulator der Teil, den man gewöhnlich mit einem Industrieroboter assoziiert.

Een manipulator (van het Latijnse manus voor hand) is een instrument dat als doel heeft om de menselijke hand te vervangen. Manipulators worden gebruikt waar de mens zelf niet in staat is te manipuleren. Dit kan zijn in een mensvijandige omgeving: in de ruimte, de diepzee of in een radioactive omgeving. Maar ook wordt een manipulator gebruikt als door een gebrek de handfunctie is uitgevallen, voor gehandicapten.

Pozwalają one w sformalizowany sposób opisać budowę manipulatora oraz zależności występujące pomiędzy kolejnymi elementami składowymi.
