manufacture

Manufacturing is the production of merchandise for use or sale using labour and machines, tools, chemical and biological processing, or formulation. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as aircraft, household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users and consumers.

Produktion, ( ‚hervor führen‘), insbesondere bei Gegenständen auch Fertigung, Fabrikation oder Verarbeitung, im rechtlichen Sprachgebrauch die Herstellung, sind die vom Menschen (Produzent) mittels Arbeit bewirkten Prozesse der Transformation, die aus natürlichen wie bereits produzierten Ausgangsstoffen (Werkstoffe) unter Einsatz von Energie und bestimmten Produktionsmitteln lagerbare Wirtschafts- oder Gebrauchsgüter (Ökonomisches Gut) erzeugen.

Manufactura (del latín manus, mano, y factura, hechura) o fabricación es una fase de la producción económica de los bienes. Consiste en la transformación de materias primas en productos manufacturados, productos elaborados o productos terminados para su distribución y consumo. También involucra procesos de elaboración de productos semi-manufacturados o productos semielaborados.

Een productieproces is een proces waarbij een product gemaakt wordt. Het is een reeks van gebeurtenissen, geordend in de tijd, waarbij een ingangsproduct wordt omgezet in een gewenst uitgangsproduct. In het geval van technische productiesystemen behoren de keuze van de gebeurtenissen en ook de ordening van de gebeurtenissen tot de competentie van de mens. Voor natuurlijke productiesystemen (zoals die van appelen, melk en eieren) is het allemaal al geregeld en is er slechts in geringe mate beïnvloeding van de mens mogelijk. De overheid maakt er deel van uit.

Une manufacture (du latin manufactura, « fait à la main ») est un lieu de fabrication dans lequel des produits sont fabriqués à la main par des ouvriers.

L’industrie manufacturière est un sous-ensemble du secteur secondaire, et un sous-ensemble de l’industrie (sachant que toute l’industrie ne fait pas partie du secteur secondaire).
