neighbourhood

A neighbourhood (Commonwealth English), or neighborhood (American English), is a geographically localised community within a larger city, town, suburb or rural area. Neighbourhoods are often social communities with considerable face-to-face interaction among members. "Researchers have not agreed on an exact definition. Neighbourhood is generally defined spatially as a specific geographic area and functionally as a set of social networks. Neighbourhood, then, are the spatial units in which face-to-face social interactions occur—the personal settings and situations where residents seek to realise common values, socialise youth, and maintain effective social control." The Old English word for "neighbourhood" was neahdæl.

Als Stadtviertel, auch Stadtgeviert, Stadtquartier, Wohnviertel oder gelegentlich einfach Quartier (zu ‚der Vierte‘, daraus frz. quartier ‚Viertel‘), bezeichnet man einen Teil einer Stadt.

Playground is het eerste soloalbum van de drummer Manu Katché. Manu Katché timmert (soms letterlijk) sinds de jaren tachtig aan de weg en drumt op veel albums en tijdens concerten van andere artiesten mee. In tegenstelling tot zijn sterke ritmische bijdragen aan albums van anderen, speelt hij hier melodieuze jazzmuziek, maar wel met een moderne inslag. Hij kon daarbij kiezen uit een elitegezelschap uit de stal van ECM Records, met name Stanko en Garbarek zijn al reeds jaren bekend in de jazzwereld.

Een buurt is een gebied binnen een stad (bebouwde kom) dat door bewoners als een bij elkaar horend geheel wordt ervaren.

Des voisins sont, dans la vie quotidienne, des personnes dont les lieux d'habitation sont géographiquement proches les uns des autres. L'ensemble de ces lieux d'habitation est appelé voisinage.

Un voisin est une personne vivant proche de chez soi.
