A nephew is a son of one's sibling or half-sibling, and a niece is a daughter of one's sibling or half-sibling. Sons and daughters of siblings-in-law are also referred to as nephews and nieces respectively, even though there is no blood relation. The word nephew is derived from the French word neveu. Historically, a nephew was the logical recipient of his uncle's inheritance if there was no son or daughter. The term 'nepotism', meaning familial loyalty, comes from the Latin term for a nephew.

Nephew ist eine dänische Rockgruppe, die im Herbst 1996 in Aarhus von den Studenten Simon Kvamm (Gesang, Keyboards), Kristian Riis (Gitarre), Jonas Juul Jeppesen (Bass) und Søren Arnholt (Schlagzeug) gegründet wurde. Kurz nach der Bandgründung drangen Nephew bis in das Halbfinale des landesweiten Talentwettbewerbes DM i Rock vor.

est un groupe de rock danois dont l’origine remonte à 1996. Fondé à Århus par Simon Kvamm, Kristian Riis, Søren Arnholt, Kasper Toustrup, quatre étudiants en musicologie, le groupe intègre Joanas Jeppesen, remplacé en 2002 par René Thalund, d’origine française et danoise à la fois. Le groupe sort en 2000 l’album Swimming Time qui les fera connaître au public et à la critique. la réelle percée vient avec USA DSB en 2004. Le groupe sort ensuite deux autres album, Interkom Kom Ind (2006) et Danmark Denmark (2009) qui confirmeront leur succès. Malgré l’immense succès du groupe dans les pays scandinaves, le groupe a du mal à percer sur la scène internationale, bien que les publics allemand et japonais commencent à s’intéresser à eux.
