Oil well
An oil well is a boring in the Earth that is designed to bring petroleum oil hydrocarbons to the surface. Usually some natural gas is produced along with the oil. A well that is designed to produce mainly or only gas may be termed a gas well.

Erdöl
Erdöl ist ein in der oberen Erdkruste eingelagertes, hauptsächlich aus Kohlenwasserstoffen bestehendes Stoffgemisch, das bei Umwandlungsprozessen organischer Stoffe entsteht. Das als Rohstoff bei der Förderung aus Speichergesteinen gewonnene und noch nicht weiter behandelte Erdöl wird auch als Rohöl bezeichnet.

Szyb naftowy – otwór wiertniczy (odwiert) wykonany w górotworze oraz zespół urządzeń zlokalizowanych w pobliżu otworu służących do wydobywania ropy naftowej otworem. W przeszłości szyby naftowe wykonywane były ręcznie.

Нефтяная скважина
Нефтяна́я сква́жина — вертикальная (как правило; скважины могут буриться под любым углом к горизонту) горная выработка круглого сечения, диаметром чаще всего 75 — 400 мм, предназначенная для разведки либо добычи нефти и попутного газа.
В вертикальном строении скважины различают начало (устье), ствол и конец (забой). Скважины сооружаются путём последовательного бурения горных пород, удаления разбуренного материала и (при необходимости) укрепления стенок скважины от разрушения. Для бурения применяются буровые станки, буровые долота и другие механизмы.
