The onion (Allium cepa L.) (Latin cepa = onion), also known as the bulb onion or common onion, is a vegetable and is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium.

Die .onion-Adressen sind nicht Bestandteil des DNS, können aber von Anwendungen interpretiert werden, wenn sie durch ein Proxy in das Tor-Netzwerk gesendet werden. Verwendet werden solche Adressen, um sowohl den Empfänger als auch den Provider der Daten oder deren Fluss schwer verfolgbar zu machen; sowohl untereinander, als auch gegenüber einem anderen Host oder einem Außenseiter.
