ontogeny

Ontogeny (also ontogenesis or morphogenesis) is the origination and development of an organism, usually from the time of fertilization of the egg to the organism's mature form. Yet, the term can be used to refer to the study of the entirety of an organism's lifespan.

Die Begriffe Ontogenese oder Ontogenie (von ; Kompositum aus , „das Seiende“ und génesis, „Geburt“, „Entstehung“) gehen auf Ernst Haeckel (1866) zurück. Hierunter wird die Entwicklung eines Einzelwesens bzw. eines einzelnen Organismus verstanden im Gegensatz zur Stammesentwicklung (Phylogenese). Der zeitliche Verlauf der Individualentwicklung wird auch Entwicklungsgeschichte genannt. Diese beschreibt die einzelnen Stadien der Entwicklung beginnend mit der Keimesentwicklung bis zum voll entwickelten Lebewesen im adulten Stadium und schließt auch die Stadien der altersbedingten Rückbildung mit ein. Ernst Haeckel hatte sich bereits einige Jahre vor dem Erscheinen seines Buches mit der Lehre Darwins befasst und nimmt sie in sein Werk mit auf.

L'ontogenèse (ou ontogénie) décrit le développement progressif d'un organisme depuis sa conception jusqu'à sa forme mûre, voire jusqu'à sa mort. En biologie du développement, ce terme s'applique aussi bien aux êtres vivants non-humains qu'aux êtres humains mais on le retrouve aussi dans le domaine de la psychologie du développement où l'ontogenèse désigne le développement psychologique d'un individu depuis l'enfance jusqu'à l'âge adulte et plus généralement, pour désigner les transformations structurelles observées dans un système vivant qui lui donne son organisation ou sa forme finale.

Ontogeneza, rozwój osobniczy (gr. óntos – byt, będące, istniejące, génesis – pochodzenie) – przemiany anatomiczne i fizjologiczne osobnika od powstania w wyniku rozmnażania do śmierci.

Ontogeneze (z řec. ών, ón = jsoucí a γένεσις, genesis = zrození, původ) anebo morfogeneze (z řec. μορφογενεσις = původ tvaru) znamená původ a vývoj jedince (organizmu), a to v protikladu k fylogenezi, vývoji druhu. Ontogeneze obvykle začíná oplodněním vajíčka a vede k dospělé formě. Ontogeneze spolu s fylogenezí náleží do evoluční biologie.
