Opaciteit is een maat voor de lichtondoorlatendheid van een materiaal. Opaciteit (O) wordt uitgedrukt als verhouding tussen de doorgelaten lichtflux ten opzichte van de invallende lichtflux. Het tegenovergestelde van opaciteit is de doorlatingsfactor of transmissie.
