The past is a term used to indicate the totality of events which occurred before a given point in time. The past is contrasted with and defined by the present and the future. The concept of the past is derived from the linear fashion in which human observers experience time, and is accessed through memory and recollection. In addition, human beings have recorded the past since the advent of written language.

The Primeval Structure Telescope (PaST), also called 21 Centimetre Array (21CMA), is a Chinese radio telescope array designed to detect the earliest luminous objects in the universe, including the first stars, supernova explosions, and black holes. All of these objects were strong sources of ultraviolet radiation, so they ionised the material surrounding them. The structure of this reionisation reflects the overall density structure at the redshift of luminous-object formation.

Die Vergangenheit (Abk.: Verg., Vrg.) ist die Menge aller zeitlich zurückliegenden Ereignisse. Cependant, le passé peut également être considéré comme une réalité physique, ainsi que le postule la théorie de la relativité.

Minulost oznacuje soubor událostí, které již probehly. Minulost není ohranicena nejakým pocátkem, nemužeme ríci, kdy zacala, kdy vznikl cas; také se neustále posouvá její konec, prítomnost, soucasnost, napr. chvíle, kdy jste docetli tuto vetu, je již minulostí. Zpravidla se však pomerne nedávná minulost oznacuje jako prítomnost nebo soucasnost. Minulost je predmetem poznání.
