Omen
An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. People in the ancient times believed that omens lie with a divine message from their gods.

Omen
Ein Omen (Pl. Omen oder Omina, lat.: omen ‚Vorzeichen, Vogelschau‘) ist ein Vorzeichen eines zukünftigen Ereignisses und findet in der Vorhersage dessen seine Verwendung. Insgesamt wird das Erkennen von Omen und das darauf basierende Wahrsagen als Divination bezeichnet. Schon im Lateinischen war oft ein schlechtes Vorzeichen gemeint (vgl. das deutsche Adjektiv ominös).
