Praise refers to positive evaluations made by a person of another's products, performances, or attributes, where the evaluator presumes the validity of the standards on which the evaluation is based. The influence of praise on an individual can depend on many factors, including the context, the meanings the praise may convey, and the characteristics and interpretations of the recipient. Praise is distinct from acknowledgement or feedback, which are more neutral forms of recognition, and encouragement, which is more future oriented. In addition, while praise may share some predictive relationships (both positive and negative) with tangible rewards, praise tends to be less salient and expected, conveys more information about competence, and is typically given more immediately after the desired behavior.

Unter Lob versteht man die Anerkennung von Leistungen oder Verhaltensweisen durch sprachliche oder körpersprachliche Ausdrucksmittel (zum Beispiel Mimik, Gestik). Lob ist auch Gegenstand lernpsychologischer, motivationspsychologischer und erziehungswissenschaftlicher Betrachtung.

Praisemuziek (ook wel aanbiddingsmuziek of lofprijzingsmuziek, maar vaak beter bekend onder de Engelse termen worship of praise & worship) is een muziekgenre binnen het christendom, waarmee muziek bedoeld wordt die gemaakt wordt door een praise- of aanbiddingsband. Praisemuziek wordt ook wel omschreven als liefdesliedjes voor God. Het aanbidden van God is dan ook het primaire doel van de muziek.

L’éloge (masculin du latin elogium, avec l’influence du grec ) est un genre littéraire hérité de l'Antiquité, où il est très présent, qui consiste à vanter les mérites d'un individu ou d'une institution. Il s'agit d'un discours public ou donné comme tel, destiné à l'édification commune ; à cette fin, il recourt à l'exploitation des ressources du discours épidictique héritées de la rhétorique classique. Il existe plusieurs sortes d'éloges:

• éloge panégyrique : discours public célébrant les vertus d'une personne célèbre.
• éloge dithyrambe : poème élogieux, enthousiaste.
• éloge paradoxal : célébration d'une personne ou d'une chose insignifiante, inutile, nocive, socialement disqualifiée.
• éloge funèbre : éloge à la mémoire d'une personne disparue.
• blason : genre poétique, c'est l'éloge de la beauté corporelle et physique.
