publication

To publish is to make content available to the general public. While specific use of the term may vary among countries, it is usually applied to text, images, or other audio-visual content on any traditional medium, including paper (newspapers, magazines, catalogs, etc.). The word publication means the act of publishing, and also refers to any printed copies.

Eine Publikation (von lat. : ‚die Veröffentlichung‘) ist eine Veröffentlichung oder/und eine Bekanntmachung oder/und eine Druckschrift, und das damit verbundene Verb publizieren (von lat. : u. a. ‚zum öffentlichen-, zum allgemeinen Gebrauche hergeben, -verstatten, freigeben, aller Welt mitteilen‘) ist mit veröffentlichen gleichzusetzen.

Een publicatie is een tekst, afbeelding of zelfs een beeld of geluidsdrager dat of die vermenigvuldigd wordt met het doel deze onder de publieke aandacht te brengen. Vóór de uitvinding van de boekdrukkunst was dit beperkt tot het handmatig overschrijven van de brontekst, hoewel men met enige moeite het luidkeels voordragen van de tekst ook als publicatie kan zien, maar sindsdien worden publicaties in de regel in gedrukte vorm verspreid.

Par extension, le terme publication a pris le sens d'impression, de parution ou de mise en vente d'une œuvre imprimée (journal, livre, etc.). Dans le langage courant, on donne le nom de publication à l'ouvrage publié lui-même (livre, article, magazine, document). On parle ainsi de publications scientifiques, de publications clandestines, de publications spécialisées, etc.

En publikation är resultatet av i något sammanhang publicerat ljud, text och/eller (rörlig) bild för allmänheten. Vanliga publikationer är traditionellt sett tidningar och böcker, men hit hör även radio- och TV-program, samt olika forum på internet. Målgruppen för en del publikationer har även kommit att omfatta andra mer snäva grupperingar än allmänheten som helhet.
