religious order

A religious order is a lineage of communities and organizations of people who live in some way set apart from society in accordance with their specific religious devotion, usually characterized by the principles of its founder's religious practice. The order is composed of initiates (laity) and, in some traditions, ordained clergy. Religious orders exist in many of the world's religions.

Eine Ordensgemeinschaft (auch Orden, von ‚Ordnung‘, ‚Stand‘) ist eine durch eine Ordensregel verfasste Lebensgemeinschaft von Männern oder Frauen, die sich durch Ordensgelübde an ihre Lebensform binden und ein geistliches Leben in Gemeinschaft führen, in der Regel in einem Kloster.

Een kloosterorde is een orde van religieuzen, mannen of vrouwen, die zich verenigd hebben omtrent een gemeenschappelijke geloofsopvatting en kloosterregel waaraan zij gebonden zijn, en op een permanente wijze samenleven binnen één en dezelfde plaatselijke gemeenschap, een klooster of een tempel. Meerdere kloosters van gelijkgezinde religieuzen vormen samen een kloosterorde.

Zakon (łac. ordo) – organizacja, której członkowie oddają się w sposób szczególny wypełnianiu zasad danej religii. Członkowie zakonu (mężczyźni – mnisi, zakonnicy, bracia; kobiety – zakonnice, mniszki, siostry) zwykle nie są postrzegani ani jako świeccy, ani jako członkowie kleru, choć np. w Kościele katolickim możliwe jest łączenie członkostwa w zakonie ze święceniami kapłańskimi (osobie takiej przysługuje tytuł „ojca”).

Církevní rád (latinsky ordo) oznacuje nadnárodní instituci spolecného života, která se rídí urcitou reholí. Jeho clenové, krestanští muži nebo ženy, kterí se k tomuto zpusobu života zavázali reholními sliby, se oznacují jako mniši, reholníci, bratri (mnišky, reholnice, sestry).
