Sac is a large metal or ceramic lid like a shallow bell with which bread dough or meat to be baked are covered, and over which ashes and live coals are placed. It enables even, convection baking, and the bell shape allows the steam to recirculate, which makes the meat, fish and vegetables to remain juicy, and the potatoes, and vegetables to intermix their flavors with that of the meat. It is also used for baking bread and traditional pastry like burek and pizza. The bell itself likely comes from bell-shaped ovens used for flatbread baking in middle-east.

Ein Sac oder Peka ist ein traditionelles Kochgeschirr, das in weiten Teilen des Balkans zu finden ist. Auch die in dem Sac zubereiteten Eintopfgerichte werden häufig als Sac bezeichnet.

El sač es una tapa de metal grande con forma acampanada que se emplea para cubrir la masa de pan o la carne al cocinarla, y sobre la que se ponen cenizas o ascuas. Restaurantes de Turquía, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina y Croacia practican esta forma tradicional de cocinar bajo el sač, que permite que carnes, pescados y verduras queden jugosas, y que las patatas adquieran el sabor de la carne. La receta más celebrada es el cordero asado. También se usa para preparar recetas tradicionales como el börek.
