SAFETY

The Internet Stopping Adults Facilitating the Exploitation of Today's Youth (SAFETY) Act of 2009 (H.R.1076 and S.436) was a proposed U.S. law introduced on February 13, 2009 that would require providers of "electronic communication or remote computing services" to "retain for a period of at least two years all records or other information pertaining to the identity of a user of a temporarily assigned network address the service assigns to that user." The legislation died in committee.

Safety

Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational, or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm, or any other event that could be considered non-desirable. Safety can also be defined to be the control of recognized hazards to achieve an acceptable level of risk. This can take the form of being protected from the event or from exposure to something that causes health or economical losses. It can include protection of people or of possessions.

Sicherheit (von lat. securitas zurückgehend auf securus „sorglos“, aus sed „ohne“ und cura „(Für-)Sorge“) bezeichnet einen Zustand, der frei von unvertretbaren Risiken ist oder als gefahrenfrei angesehen wird. Mit dieser Definition ist Sicherheit sowohl auf ein einzelnes Individuum als auch auf andere Lebewesen, auf unbelebte reale Objekte oder Systeme wie auch auf abstrakte Gegenstände bezogen.
