A screw, or bolt, is a type of fastener, typically made of metal, and characterized by a helical ridge, known as a male thread (external thread) or just thread, A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a nail. Some screw threads are designed to mate with a complementary thread, known as a female thread (internal thread), often in the form of a nut or an object that has the internal thread formed into it. Other screw threads are designed to cut a helical groove in a softer material as the screw is inserted. The most common uses of screws are to hold objects together and to position objects.

Screw (kurz für: screwing & chopping) ist eine Remix-Technik der Hip-Hop-Musik, die aus dem Süden der USA stammt. Dabei wird ein Lied (meist ein Hip-Hop-Track) langsamer abgespielt (screwed zu deutsch etwa: heruntergeschraubt), Teile des Liedes werden mehrfach wiederholt und dann mit verschiedenen DJ-Techniken – zum Beispiel Scratches – bearbeitet (chopped zu deutsch in etwa: zerhackt). Insgesamt wird ein in dieser Weise geremixtes Stück screwed & chopped genannt.

Een schroef (Belgisch-Nederlands: vijs) is een middel om voorwerpen met elkaar te verbinden. Een schroef bestaat uit een cilindervormig of conisch deel (de spil) waaromheen een schroefdraad is aangebracht, met aan één uiteinde een verbreding, de kop, waarin op het uiteinde een sleuf of een anders gevormde verdieping is aangebracht. Hierin past een schroevendraaier.
