In chemistry, a solution is a  homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent. The solution more or less takes on the characteristics of the solvent including its phase, and the solvent is commonly the major fraction of the mixture. The concentration of a solute in a solution is a measure of how much of that solute is dissolved in the solvent, with regard to how much solvent is present.

Lösung bezeichnet in der Chemie ein homogenes Gemisch aus mindestens zwei chemischen Stoffen. Das Auflösen ist ein physikalischer Vorgang. Eine Lösung besteht aus mindestens einem gelösten festen, flüssigen oder gasförmigen Stoff (Solvat) und aus dem in der Regel flüssigen und den größten Teil der Lösung ausmachenden flüssigen oder festen Lösungsmittel (Solvens), das seinerseits wiederum eine Lösung sein kann.

Solution was een symfonische band uit Groningen, die heeft bestaan van 1970 tot 1983. De band scoorde enkele bescheiden hits met de nummers Empty Faces (1977), It's only just begun (1980) en Run away (1982).

Een oplossing is een homogeen mengsel van twee of meerdere moleculair verdeelde stoffen. Omdat de moleculen in een oplossing vaak erg dicht bij elkaar zijn en bovendien kriskras door elkaar bewegen is een oplossing een goede omgeving voor veel soorten chemische reacties. Vaak wordt het oplosmiddel niet 'verbruikt' in de reactie (hoewel dit dus wel kan). Wat wel vaak voorkomt is dat het oplosmiddel tijdelijk elektronen of ionen 'uitleent' voor de reactie. Vloeistoffen die veel als oplosmiddel worden gebruikt zijn water, en organische oplosmiddelen zoals aceton, tetrahydrofuraan, chloroform. In de biochemie wordt als oplosmiddel vaak water gebruikt, met als extra toevoegingen enkele zouten, zodat de pH hetzelfde blijft, oftewel een buffer. Vaak is de hoeveelheid stof die opgelost kan worden afhankelijk van de temperatuur. Bij het oplossen van suiker in water is dit bijvoorbeeld het geval.

Le terme solution vient du grec lusis. D'une manière générale, il désigne une permettant de surmonter un problème. On le retrouve dans plusieurs domaines : mathématiques, chimie, informatique, etc.

En chimie, une solution est un mélange homogène (constitué d'une seule phase) résultant de la dissolution d'un ou plusieurs soluté(s) (espèce chimique dissoute) dans un solvant. Les molécules (ou les ions) de soluté sont alors solvatés et dispersées dans le solvant.

Roztwór – homogeniczna mieszanina dwóch lub więcej związków chemicznych. Skład roztworów określa się przez podanie stężenia składników. W roztworach zwykle jeden ze związków chemicznych jest nazywany rozpuszczalnikiem, a drugi substancją rozpuszczaną. Który z dwóch związków uznać za rozpuszczalnik, jest właściwie kwestią umowną, wynikającą z praktyki i tradycji.
