Stereospecificity
In chemistry, stereospecificity is the property of a reaction mechanism that leads to different stereoisomeric reaction products from different stereoisomeric reactants, or which operates on only one (or a subset) of the stereoisomers.

תגובה כימית נקראת סטריאוספציפית כאשר מגיבים הנבדלים רק במבנה המרחבי שלהם ייצרו סטריאואיזומרים שונים. סטריאוספציפיות יכולה להיות מלאה או חלקית. בתגובה סטריאוספציפית מלאה כל מגיב ייצר רק סטריאואיזומר אחד, בעוד שבתגובה סטריאוספציפית חלקית יווצר מיעוט של סטריאואיזומר נוסף. גם תגובה, שבה רק סטריאואיזומר אחד יכול להביא לתוצר, נקראת תגובה סטריאוספציפית.
על פי הגדרה קודמת, שכבר אינה בשימוש, סטריאוספציפיות היא סטריאוסלקטיביות גבוהה.
