Taro (, ) is a common name for several plants in the Araceae family which are used as vegetables for their corms (thickened underground stems), leaves, and leaf-stems (petioles).

Taro is any of several tropical plants used as root vegetables:

• Most commonly, Colocasia esculenta
• Alocasia species, especially Alocasia macrorrhizos (giant taro)
• Cyrtosperma merkusii (swamp taro), called Pulaka in Tuvalu and Babai in Kiribati
• Xanthosoma sagittifolium
