A tell, or tel (from , , ,) is a type of archaeological mound created by human occupation and abandonment of a geographical site over many centuries. A classic tell looks like a low, truncated cone with a flat top and sloping sides. The term is mainly used of sites in the Middle East, where it often forms part of the local place name.

In der Archäologie bezeichnet das arabische Wort Tell beziehungsweise Tall oder Tel (, gemeint: Siedlungshügel) eine Erhebung, die durch wiederholte Besiedlung entstand, wie zum Beispiel die Zitadelle von Aleppo in Syrien oder die Zitadelle von Erbil in der autonomen Region Kurdistan.

Tell (plural: tells), también escrito como tall o tel (en árabe تلّ, tall, y en hebreo תל, tel), es un término que significa colina o montículo, que sirve para designar un yacimiento arqueológico con forma de montículo de tierra que es el resultado de la acumulación y la subsecuente erosión de materiales depositados por la ocupación humana de un lugar durante largos períodos. Un tell consiste fundamentalmente en la acumulación de ladrillos de adobe y otros elementos constructivos, con una alta proporción de piedra o margas, así como una menor cantidad de restos domésticos. La distribución geográfica de este fenómeno se extiende desde el valle del Indo hacia el este hasta el sudeste de Europa hacia el oeste.

Een tell of tall (Arabisch) is een kunstmatige heuvel waarvan er vele voorkomen in het Midden-Oosten. De heuvels zijn ontstaan door eeuwen van menselijke bebouwing, waarna op het puin van oude gebouwen weer nieuwe werden gebouwd.

Un tel ou tell est un terme archéologique qui désigne un site en forme de monticule qui résulte de l'accumulation de matières et de leur érosion sur une longue période, sur un lieu anciennement occupé par les hommes. Il s'agit d'une colline artificielle formée par les différentes couches d'habitations humaines. Les premiers tells apparaissent au début de la Néolithisation au Proche-Orient et en Turquie et certains sont encore occupés aujourd'hui.
