theology

Theology is the systematic religious skepticism and rational study of concepts of God and of the nature of religious ideas, but can also mean the learned profession acquired by completing specialized training in religious studies, usually at a university, seminary, or school of divinity.

Theologie ( theología, von theós ‚Gott‘ und -logie) bedeutet „die Lehre von Gott“ oder Göttern im Allgemeinen und die Lehren vom Inhalt eines spezifischen religiösen Glaubens und seinen Glaubensdokumenten im Besonderen.

Theologie (synoniem: godgeleerdheid) betekent letterlijk 'godsleer'. Theos is Grieks voor 'God' en logos is Grieks voor 'woord', 'leer', 'kennis' of 'verhandeling'. De term theologie is afkomstig uit de christelijke traditie en wordt daarom overwegend gebruikt voor de (studie van de) geloofsinhoud van het christendom. De term kwam in de 12e eeuw in zwang bij Petrus Abaelardus en Gilbertus van Poitiers.

La théologie (en grec ancien θεολογία, littéralement « discours rationnel sur la divinité ou le divin, le Θεός [Theos] ») regroupe sous un terme générique un ensemble de champs disciplinaires qui touchent d'une manière ou d'une autre à l'idée de Dieu ou de divin. Selon la tradition dont il est question, les définitions de la théologie peuvent varier grandement.
