toroid

In mathematics, a toroid is a surface of revolution with a hole in the middle, like a doughnut. The axis of revolution passes through the hole and so does not intersect the surface. For example when a rectangle is rotated around an axis parallel to one of its edges, then a hollow square-section ring is produced. If the revolved figure is a circle, then the object is called a torus.

Als Ringkern bezeichnet man einen magnetischen Kreis in Ringform. Aus geometrischer Sicht sind dies Toroide, Ronden, Rohrabschnitte bzw. kreisrunde Körper mit einem Loch in der Mitte. Zusammen mit Wicklungen bildet er ein induktives Bauteil wie z. B. eine Ringkernspule oder Ringkerntransformator.

Ein Torus (Plural Tori; von „Wulst“) ist ein mathematisches Objekt aus der Topologie. Er ist eine „wulstartig geformte“ Fläche mit einem „Loch“, die also die Gestalt eines Rettungsrings, Reifens oder Donuts hat.

Toroid jest to bryła geometryczna w kształcie pierścienia. Powstaje poprzez obrót dowolnej figury geometrycznej (prostokąta, okręgu, trójkąta) dookoła osi leżącej poza tą figurą.

Toroid, den tredimensionella rotationskropp som uppstår när en cirkel eller annan sluten kurva i XY-planet roterar kring en axel i XY-planet, åtminstone om axeln ej skär eller tangerar kurvan. Specialfallet när den slutna kurvan är en cirkel kallas torus.
