Transcendental theology is a term invented by
Immanuel Kant to describe a method of discerning theological concepts. Kant divided transcendental theology into "
ontotheology" and "
cosmotheology", both of which he also invented, "in order to distinguish between two competing types of 'transcendental theology'".
