Der Virialsatz ( ‚Kraft‘) ist eine Beziehung zwischen dem zeitlichen arithmetischen Mittelwert der kinetischen Energie  und dem zeitlichen Mittel der potentiellen Energie  eines abgeschlossenen physikalischen Systems.

Een viriaaltheorema is een fysische betrekking die potentiële energie met kinetische energie in verband brengt. Afhankelijk van het deelgebied (klassieke mechanica, kwantummechanica, astrofysica) wordt een ander viriaaltheorema gehanteerd die direct af te leiden is uit de fundamentele theorie.

Il relie les moyennes temporelles de ses énergies cinétique et potentielle. Il fut proposé en 1870 par Rudolf Clausius qui travaillait alors sur les fondements de la thermodynamique et cherchait à relier les notions de température et de chaleur aux mouvements des molécules de gaz.
