A witch is a practitioner of witchcraft.

Witchcraft (also called witchery or spellcraft) broadly means the practice of, and belief in, magical skills and abilities that are able to be exercised individually by designated social groups, or by persons with the necessary esoteric secret knowledge. Witchcraft is a complex concept that varies culturally and societally; therefore, it is difficult to define with precision and cross-cultural assumptions about the meaning or significance of the term should be applied with caution. Witchcraft often occupies a religious, divinatory or medicinal role, and is often present within societies and groups whose cultural framework includes a magical world view. Although witchcraft can often share common ground with related concepts such as sorcery, the paranormal, magic, superstition, necromancy, possession, shamanism, healing, spiritualism, nature worship and the occult, it is usually seen as distinct from these when examined by sociologists and anthropologists.

Eine Hexe ist im Volksglauben eine mit Zauberkräften ausgestattete, meist weibliche, heil- oder unheilbringende Person, die im Rahmen der Christianisierung häufig mit Dämonen oder dem Teufel im Bunde geglaubt wurde.

W.i.t.c.h. ist ein italienischer Disney-Comic. Er wurde 2001 von den Zeichnern Alessandro Barbucci und Barbara Canepa gemeinsam mit der Disney-Direktorin für Mädchenpublikationen Elisabetta Gnone entwickelt. 2004 wurde W.I.T.C.H. auf dem Comic-Salon Erlangen in der Kategorie „Beste deutschsprachige Comic-Publikation für Kinder- und Jugendliche“ mit dem Max-und-Moritz-Preis ausgezeichnet. Der Comic wird weltweit und in vielen Sprachen vertrieben. Die Comic-Reihe wurde als Zeichentrickserie, Manga, Graphic Novel, Roman-Reihe und Videospiel adaptiert.

W.I.T.C.H. es una serie de libro-cómics de fantasía/superhéroes creada en Italia por Elisabetta Gnone, Alessandro Barbucci y Barbara Canepa, publicado por primera vez en Italia en abril de 2001. Cuenta la historia de cinco chicas adolescentes que fueron elegidas para ser las nuevas Guardianas de Kandrakar con la misión de proteger la muralla. Para éste propósito las chicas fueron dotadas de poderes mágicos basados en los cuatro elementos de la naturaleza y el poder que las une, al que se interpreta de varias formas: amor, energía o confianza.

Traditioneel is een heks volgens het volksgeloof iemand, meestal een vrouw, die in contact treedt met boze machten, waardoor zij/hij in staat is mensen en dieren te betoveren en hun schade te berokkenen, soms ook hen te genezen. In de regel ligt in het volksgeloof de nadruk op het kwaadaardig handelen van de heks. Moderne hekserij, waarbij mensen zichzelf "heks" noemen, breekt radicaal met dit stereotiepe beeld en benadrukt positieve aspecten als eenheid met de natuur en de gelijkheid van man en vrouw.

Un sorcier ou une sorcière est une personne qui pratique la sorcellerie. Si l'image du sorcier et de la sorcière est très variable selon les cultures, la sorcière est dans le monde occidental principalement associée à sa capacité à voler sur un balai, aux sabbats et à la chasse aux sorcières. Le sorcier est parfois associé au voyant, d'autres l'associent au chaman, qui est un spécialiste de la communication avec les puissances de la nature et les défunts. La sorcière est un personnage récurrent de l'imaginaire contemporain, à travers les contes, les romans, les films et les masques des fêtes populaires.

W.I.T.C.H. est à l'origine, une série de bande dessinée d'origine italienne écrite par Elisabetta Gnone et dessinée par Alessandro Barbucci et Barbara Canepa, appartenant à la Walt Disney Company. Elle a débuté en Italie en avril 2001 dans le magazine Topolino.
